The Society of Amateur Vikings for General Reenactment, together with Breezy Hill Meadworks, is pleased to present A Yule Festival at Breezy Hill Meadery. Join us for a full weekend of winter celebration on Saturday, December 13 from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. and Sunday, December 14 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Admission is free. Yule is one of the oldest winter traditions in Northern Europe, dating back to ancient Norse and Germanic cultures. Historically, Yule marked the winter solstice—a time to celebrate the return of longer days, honor ancestral customs, and gather with family and community for feasting, storytelling, and merriment. Many modern holiday traditions, such as decorated evergreens, festive fires, and exchanging gifts, can trace their origins to Yule celebrations. Our modern Yule Festival embraces this spirit by bringing history to life through immersive experiences inspired by Viking-age winter festivities. Throughout the weekend, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including: Interactive games inspired by historical pastimes Live shows and reenactments featuring Viking-age characters and storytelling Hands-on demonstrations of traditional skills and crafts Local artisans and vendors offering handmade goods, foods, and unique seasonal items Whether you're a history enthusiast, a fan of Viking lore, or simply looking for a fun seasonal outing, the Yule Festival offers something for all ages. What Is a Yule Festival?
